Storniolo is a two-time All-American for the Sooners as he compiled a 117-22 career record. He wrestled in the 149-lb. weight class for the duration of his career and was a four time conference finalist. As a freshman, Storniolo wrestled at Penn State and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He placed second in the Big Ten tournament before transfering to OU. As a sophomore on the Sooner squad, he placed second in the Big 12 tourny and earned his first All-American honor by placing 7th in the NCAA Tournament. He repeated as an All-American in his junior campaign, again finishing as the runner-up in the Big 12 tourny and placing 4th at the national tournament. He concluded his career with a Big 12 Championship in the 149-lb. weight class and he entered the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 ranked wrestler in the nation. Before college, Storniolo wrestled to an undefeated senior year at State College Area High School in Pennsylvania en route to a state championship. He was also named a high school All-American.
